BACKTRACK films is Elgin Smith and Sarah Frick Smith. We are a Montana-based production company established to create original moving imagery through promotional videos, narrative films and documentaries.

Living in New York for ten years helped shape us into who we are and gave us a dynamic foundation in visual storytelling.  Whether working on feature-length films or shorts, we are focused on combining the strongest pictures with the most compelling stories. 

Visual pieces we’ve produced and edited have played in theatrical release, appeared on television and ran in national print campaigns and editorials.   Some of those places include Tribeca Film Festival, LA Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival, HBO/Cinemax, PBS, Arté, Bloomberg Television, TIME, Newsweek, GQ, Outside Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, ESPN The Magazine, New York Magazine and The LA Times Magazine.
